Civil Rights and Social Impact

In 2024, we championed reproductive rights, supported LGBTQ+ rights, and fought for voting rights. Through partnerships with legal and civil rights organizations across the country, we worked to advance civil rights for all.

Partners Lindsay Harrison and Joanna Wright discuss their advocacy for reproductive rights.

Reproductive Rights

In 2024, the reproductive rights landscape remained complex and contentious, shaped by shifting state laws, ongoing legal battles, and intensified efforts to either protect or restrict access to abortion care nationwide. In response, our lawyers and Post-Dobbs Task Force continued to support clients as they navigated through these evolving challenges.

LGBTQ+ Rights

We have a long and proud history of protecting the rights of LGBTQ+ communities, from winning the landmark case Lawrence v. Texas more than 20 years ago to fighting for medical care benefits for transgender state employees and continuing to challenge the “forced outing” provision of an Iowa law that requires teachers, counselors, and other staff to report a student to parents or guardians if the student asks to use a name or pronoun relating to gender identity. This advocacy took many forms in 2024.

Voting Rights

Jenner & Block continues to demonstrate its commitment to protecting voting rights through significant engagements across the United States, from addressing technical vulnerabilities in Georgia's voting systems to challenging discriminatory voting laws in Texas.
